Origins of the LBC

The Legation Boules Club (LBC) of Austin was formed in July 2014 to provide an independent forum for its members and the public to learn, practice and play the game of pétanque. LBC is not affiliated with any other petanque association.

We play on the picturesque grounds of the historical French Legation Museum, located in downtown Austin on Wednesdays.  On Fridays and Sundays you will find us playing at the Hangar in the Mueller complex.

The concept for LBC began over a beer at Angie's Mexican Restaurant in June 2014 recognizing  the need for a socially-geared pétanque club in Austin.  We are a private club and are not associated with any other organizations.

LBC offers two tournaments a year designed for all players to have a chance to win.  Our club strives to give back to the community by hosting an annual fund raising tournament for the French Légation.

Our membership has grown to over forty members.  LBC wants to focus on the fun and enjoyment of the game, where one could play pétanque in a relaxed environment without pressure or expectations and still participate in competitive tournaments.

If you enjoy pétanque, good fun and fellowship, you will fit right in.
