In Memory of Patti Shook

June 6, 1956 – June 18, 2026

A Friend of the Legation Boules Club

Patti Shook was much more than an accomplished pétanque player. She was a warm friend, an enthusiastic competitor, and a familiar presence beneath the Browning Hangar at the French Legation. Whether welcoming new players, celebrating victories, or simply enjoying an afternoon with friends, Patti brought kindness, laughter, and generosity to our club.

Those who knew her will remember her competitive spirit, her love of travel and adventure, her recommendations of good books, and the genuine joy she found in spending time with friends. She embraced the game of pétanque with enthusiasm and became an important part of the Legation Boules Club community.

This page is dedicated to celebrating Patti’s life and preserving the memories she leaves with all of us.

A Celebration of Life honoring Patti will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from Noon until 4:00 PM at 4304 Scales Street in Austin.

Family, friends, neighbors, and fellow members of the Legation Boules Club gathered to share stories, remember Patti’s remarkable life, and celebrate the friendships she created.

Patti Through the Years

The photographs below capture just a few moments from Patti’s years with the Legation Boules Club. They show her doing what she loved—playing pétanque, celebrating victories, sharing music and laughter, and spending time with friends.

Each photograph reflects the warmth, enthusiasm, and generous spirit that made Patti such an important part of our community.

A Celebration of Friendship

Following Patti’s passing, members of the Legation Boules Club gathered beneath the Browning Hangar to celebrate her life. Friends shared memories, raised a toast in her honor, and reflected on the many happy afternoons spent together on the courts.

The photographs below are from that gathering and serve as a reminder of the friendships Patti inspired throughout our club.

Patti’s Life

Patti was born in Connecticut on June 6, 1956, and later settled in Texas, where she built a successful career in accounting and eventually operated her own tax practice. She loved the Austin lifestyle, spending time on Lake Travis, traveling, reading, and enjoying the company of family and friends.

In retirement she discovered the French game of pétanque, quickly becoming an accomplished player and an enthusiastic ambassador for the sport. She enjoyed competing locally and abroad, including a memorable trip to Greece where she helped lead her team to victory in an international pétanque event.

Patti passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 18, 2026. She is remembered with great affection by her family, her many friends, and by everyone fortunate enough to have shared time with her on the pétanque courts.

In Loving Memory

Although Patti is no longer with us, her friendship, her laughter, and her love of the game remain part of the Legation Boules Club. Every match played beneath the Browning Hangar, every new player welcomed into our community, and every gathering of friends reminds us of the joy she brought to so many lives.

She will always be remembered, and she will always be missed.
