It's confirmed. For the first time since 2024, the Browning Hangar is on the agenda of the City's Mueller commission (PIAC). On Tuesday, Banbury, the Mueller developer, will present design ideas for the Hangar's future.
This matters. The agreement that governs Mueller ends next year, and the Hangar's future is being shaped now: its design, who will run it, and whether it stays a free, open place for everyone.
We'll be there to say one thing, in a friendly way: whatever changes, public access has to be written down and protected. A few of us will speak briefly and share a one-page public-access recommendation that we hope the commission will take up in November. You can read it at browninghangar.org/public-access-proposal/
When: Tuesday, October 13, 6:00 p.m. Please arrive by 5:45.
Where: Austin Energy Headquarters, Assembly Room 1111, 4815 Mueller Blvd.
You don't need to speak. A full room of calm, friendly people who use the Hangar tells the commission more than any speech. The Hangar item will probably come in the second half of the meeting. Plan on about an hour.
Please reply HERE to let me know you're coming, and bring someone who uses the Hangar.
Thank you. This is how the Hangar stays open for all of us.
