Hi subscriber,

Here is a message from Ed Priest

All,
LBC will hold our Terry Plemons Memorial Tournament at the French Legation on Saturday, October 31.

Each year, this tournament gives us an opportunity to remember our past players while also celebrating Día de los Muertos. Sadly, this year we will be adding Patti Shook and Earl Lovell to the list of players we remember—both of whom passed away too early in life.

The tournament will use a carousel format, with pointers and shooters matched together. Everyone will play five games, changing partners for each game. Final standings will be determined by the number of wins and point differential.

The top six pointers and top six shooters will receive medals:

Concours Division: positions 1–3
Consolante Division: positions 4–6

The tournament entry fee is a $20 donation, payable at registration on the morning of the tournament. Because this is a benefit tournament, all tournament proceeds will be presented to the French Legation.

We will play three timed games in the morning, followed by a potluck lunch. After lunch, everyone will return for the final two games. Once all five games are complete, the scores will be calculated, the winners announced, and medals presented.

It will be a full day of pétanque, friendship, remembrance, and fun, so be sure to sign up soon.

We look forward to seeing you on October 31!

Ed
