Sure, the last two months have been brutal. Too hot to play even some days at 10pm. Leave your boules in the car, and next time you pull them out for a game, you find yourself juggling pools of molten steel. It's CRAZY I tell ya! The bright side of this predicament? We've all had plenty of time to rest up and get our bodies back into prime tournament-ready form - and boy howdy y'all, are we gonna need it. Tournaments popping up everywhere!

October will see both the Legation Boules Club and Nelson Ranch Pétanque Club holding tournaments at their respective home terrains, and before then, for all you globetrotters out there, there are a couple of national tournaments of note to consider, as well as the return of the TexaFrance Challenge Cup hosted by our own Marion Bermondy and Johnny Carreau in Annot, France. Sadly, registration for the Annot tournament is closed, but we're hoping a roving reporter or two might pop in with highlights and reports on all the action - stay tuned!

You know it, you love it, you can't miss it. The highlight of Austin's social calendar is a must do - not only will you get to play with 15 different petanquers (5 partners/10 opponents) throughout the day, there's a scrumpilicious potluck, costume contest, medals for top finishers, and a chance to see and be seen by anyone and everyone that matters.

From Christophe Chambers, NRPC Secretary: NRPC will be holding a tournament on Sunday, Oct.1st at the NRPC courts starting at 8:30 AM. Please mark your calendars and start looking for a partner, as it will be a Select Doubles format. I will be sending out an official announcement in a week or so. Please wait for the announcement before registering. Priority will go to NRPC members first, then to other clubs & non-members. The City of Cedar Park has re-gravelled the walking paths which is a big improvement for using them as courts. Because of this, we will be able to host up to 22 teams.
