Walt and Estefi in Madrid

Most of the Austin pétanque players know Walt and Estefi, but many of the new players did not get a chance to meet them before they moved away.
|
Walt and Estefi used to have a house here in Austin. Walt was working PepsiCo and Estefi was working on her Ph.D. in Arabic.

Both Walt and Estefi enjoy playing pétanque, they even had a terrain at their house here in Austin. Walt is an especially good player and was even on the USA team! (the tall guy in the middle)

Walt and Estefi and their dog Luby ended up moving to London, and then Madrid for Walt's job. That's a good thing because Estefi's family is from around there.

Of course Spain, and Madrid in particular, have been hit hard by Covid-19 and they are stuck at home like the rest of us.
|
They just sent some pictures and a note to say that they are doing well. Walt's company has been scrambling to deal with the situation while Estefi managed to finish her dissertation!

Those guys had planned to come to Austin in April for Estefi to do her dissertation defense, but now that will be done online. Hopefully, they will be able to come to Austin for graduation, but all of that is still up in the air.

In the meantime those guys say they are doing well, but they are feeling a little cramped since they live in a small place, and can't play in the big city.
|

Luby the dog has been to more countries than a lot of people!
