Save the Hangar Meeting Tonight!

Come On Out!
If you plan on playing pétanque at the hangar this Friday night, and even if you don't, consider having dinner at La Madeleine (the one near the hangar) at 6PM, so we can talk about the upcoming Commission Meeting that will be held on Tuesday, August 8th.
|
As you probably know by now, our beloved Browning hangar is at risk of being closed to the public and taken over by some sort of development.
|
If the hangar is closed to the pétanque community, and all the other groups that use it, it will be a severe blow to everything we managed to build up over the years.
|
The situation is grim. Like on a plane when all the engines have quit. No control. Waiting to die. It is not an exaggeration to say we are fighting for the life of pétanque in Austin.
|
To survive, we will have to be smart, and take whatever action we can.

Commission Meetings
Two months ago, at the last Commission Meeting a group of LBC members attended and told the Commission how disappointed we were that the hangar was closing, and why we believe it should stay free and open to all the people who have come to depend on it.
|
The Commission was impressed. The representative of the development company was impressed. Now they may try to help us.
|
What more can we expect to accomplish at the next meeting on Tuesday the 8th?
|
We don't have the answer at the moment. That's what we plan to talk about Friday evening at La Madeleine.
|
What we know is that we don't need to write speeches this time. Just getting a big crowd at the Commission meeting will help our cause.
|
In fact, it's likely that the best thing we can do is to show up at the meeting, with as many members as we can gather, so they can see how passionate and determined we all are to keep the hangar open.
|
